do dogs sweat

Dogs do sweat, but quite differently from humans. They have sweat glands mainly located in their paw pads and noses, which produce sweat that helps a little with cooling. However, because their bodies are covered mostly in fur, sweat from other parts wouldn't evaporate effectively to cool them down. Therefore, sweating plays only a small role in a dog's cooling process. Instead, dogs primarily regulate their body temperature by panting, which evaporates moisture from their tongue, mouth, and respiratory tract to cool them down. Dogs also use vasodilation—expanding blood vessels, especially in their ears and face—to help dissipate heat.
