Gir National Park in Gujarat is famous for being the only natural habitat of the endangered Asiatic lions. It is renowned for the successful conservation of these lions, which once roamed from the Middle East to India but are now found only in this region. In addition to the Asiatic lions, the park hosts a rich biodiversity including leopards, hyenas, various species of deer, the unique four-horned antelope (Chowsingha), and more than 300 species of birds. The park's dry deciduous forest ecosystem also supports a variety of reptiles like marsh crocodiles, king cobras, and several species of turtles. It is a key wildlife conservation area and a popular destination for wildlife safaris and birdwatching.
