At 20 weeks pregnant, a baby is typically about 6.3 to 6.5 inches long from crown to rump (about 16 to 16.5 cm) and weighs around 9 to 11 ounces (approximately 250 to 312 grams). This size is often compared to a banana. At this stage, the baby's skin is protected by a waxy coating called vernix, and fine hair called lanugo may cover the body. The baby is growing rapidly and developing important features such as fingerprints and fingernails.
