Originally built for over 110,000 spectators for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, it was later reconfigured to its current size, mainly to host a variety of sporting and entertainment events in a rectangular format. The stadium also features the world's longest straight-run LED video screen at 120 meters long by 10 meters high. The record attendance at the stadium was 114,714 during the 2000 Olympics, making it one of the largest Olympic stadiums ever constructed.
