Jeju Island is South Korea's largest island, covering an area of approximately 1,833 to 1,850 square kilometers (about 708 to 714 square miles). It measures roughly 73 kilometers (45 miles) from east to west and 31 kilometers (19 miles) from north to south. The island is volcanic in origin and dominated by Hallasan, the highest mountain in South Korea, which rises 1,950 meters (6,388 feet) above sea level.
