Manhattan is approximately 22.83 square miles (59.13 km²) in size. It is about 13.4 miles (21.6 km) long and 2.3 miles (3.7 km) wide at its widest point. The borough is the most densely populated in New York City and includes Manhattan Island along with several smaller islands and a small section on the mainland. Manhattan covers around 14,600 acres in total.
