It rises 348 meters (1,142 feet) above the surrounding desert plain and reaches an elevation of 863 meters (2,831 feet) above sea level. Additionally, it is estimated that about 2.5 kilometers of the rock extends underground. Uluru is the world's largest single rock monolith, though not the largest rock formation overall.
