Goliath's height is described differently in various biblical texts. The Masoretic Text states he was "six cubits and a span," which, using common ancient measurements, is about 9 feet 9 inches (2.97 meters) tall. However, some other ancient sources, including the Septuagint and some Dead Sea Scroll texts, describe him as "four cubits and a span," roughly 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 meters). These variations mean Goliath was either an extraordinarily tall giant or a very tall man by ancient standards, depending on the text referenced.
