Daffodil bulbs should be planted about 4 to 7 inches (approximately 10 to 18 centimeters) deep in the soil. This depth is roughly three times the size of the bulb. It is important to plant them pointed end up, in well-drained soil, at a spacing of about 4 to 6 inches apart. Planting bulbs too shallow can cause poor blooming or "blindness" (no flowers). When planting in pots, the same depth applies, although bulbs can be placed more thickly as long as they do not touch. After planting, water thoroughly to help the bulbs settle and grow well.
