Big Bear Lake has an average depth of about 35 feet (11 meters) and a maximum depth of approximately 72 feet (22 meters) near the dam. The lake is approximately 7 miles long and up to 2.5 miles wide, with a surface elevation around 6,750 feet (2,060 meters) above sea level. The depth can fluctuate somewhat with changes in water level due to snowmelt and runoff.
