Lake Erie has a maximum depth of about 210 feet (64 meters), which occurs in the eastern basin. Its average depth is much shallower, around 62 feet (19 meters), making it the shallowest of the Great Lakes. The western basin is the shallowest part with average depths around 24 feet (7.3 meters), the central basin averages 60 feet (18.3 meters), and the eastern basin averages 80 feet (24.4 meters) deep.
