how did aaron hernandez die

Aaron Hernandez died by suicide on April 19, 2017. He was found hanging in his prison cell at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Massachusetts. Hernandez used a bed sheet tied to the window bars to hang himself. At the time, he was serving a life sentence for murder. His cell was barricaded from the inside to delay entry, and there were writings on his body and walls, including "John 3:16" written on his forehead. He was pronounced dead at a hospital about an hour after being discovered unresponsive in his cell. The cause of death was ruled asphyxia by hanging.
