Rapper Coolio died from an accidental overdose caused by the effects of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine. The Los Angeles County medical examiner ruled his death accidental and noted contributing factors including cardiomyopathy (a heart condition), asthma, and recent use of the psychoactive drug phencyclidine (PCP). Coolio was found unconscious on the floor of a friend's home in Los Angeles on September 28, 2022, and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 59 years old at the time of his death.
