DMX died from a cocaine-induced heart attack on April 2, 2021, which left him hospitalized in a coma. He was placed on life support and passed away a week later on April 9, 2021, at White Plains Hospital in New York. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was a lethal combination of drugs (including crack cocaine and fentanyl), alcohol, and complications from Covid-19, which likely affected his oxygen intake. The drug overdose triggered the heart attack that led to his fatal condition.
