Elizabeth Taylor died of congestive heart failure on March 23, 2011, at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She had battled this condition for several years and was hospitalized for six weeks before her death. Taylor experienced various health problems throughout her life, including scoliosis, chronic back pain, pneumonia, hip replacements, and a brain tumor, but congestive heart failure was the ultimate cause of her passing at age 79. She was surrounded by her four children at the time of her death.
