Ho Chi Minh died of heart failure on September 2, 1969, at his home in Hanoi. He was 79 years old at the time. Despite his wish to be cremated, his embalmed body is displayed in the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi. His death was officially announced the day after, and a week of mourning was observed in North Vietnam.
