Two different "Nick" individuals associated with Deadliest Catch have died:
- Nick McGlashan, a deck boss on the Summer Bay, died at age 33 from a drug overdose in a Nashville hotel bathroom. The overdose was caused by a toxic mix of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl. He died in December 2023 while visiting friends in Tennessee.
- Nick Mavar, a deckhand on the F/V Northwestern, died at age 59 from a heart attack in Alaska on June 13, 2024. He had left the show after a medical scare in 2020 when his appendix ruptured and cancer was discovered. He died after a medical emergency at a boatyard in Naknek, Alaska.
So it depends which Nick is referenced, but Nick McGlashan died from a drug overdose and Nick Mavar died from a heart attack.
