Robert Irwin, the Australian wildlife conservationist and television personality, did not die. He is alive. The death that might cause confusion is that of his father, Steve Irwin, who died on September 4, 2006. Steve Irwin died from a stingray barb that pierced his chest and heart while filming an underwater documentary at the Great Barrier Reef. Robert Irwin was only a few months shy of his third birthday when his father passed away and has since continued to honor his father's legacy through his own work in wildlife conservation and television.
