You can edit a subgallery description from your DeviantArt gallery settings, not from the individual artwork page. Go to your gallery, open the subgallery, click Edit , then change the description in the available field and save the update. DeviantArt’s help materials show that sub-galleries are managed from the gallery area, and that the edit flow is where you create or adjust them.
If you only want to change the description for a single post or deviation, the process is different. Open the deviation itself, click the pencil or Edit option, then modify the description and update it. That edit screen is separate from gallery management, which is why the steps can feel confusing at first.
What to do
- Open your Gallery.
- Select the subgallery you want to change.
- Click Edit.
- Update the description text.
- Save or confirm the change.
If you do not see an edit option for the subgallery, it may be because gallery features are limited by account type or the interface has changed, but the gallery management path is still the right place to look.
If it still is not there
DeviantArt has been rolling more gallery controls into its Studio and published-content tools, including editing titles and descriptions for published items. If the old gallery view does not show what you expect, check the published content or gallery management area instead of the artwork page.
