To hard reset a Google TV Streamer 4K, leave it powered on, then press and hold the small button on the back of the device. Keep holding it while the status light blinks yellow; release the button when the light turns solid white. The streamer will restart and erase its data, returning to factory settings.
Using the reset button
- Make sure the Google TV Streamer is connected to power and turned on.
- Find the reset button on the back of the streamer.
- Press and hold the button for about 10 to 12 seconds.
- Continue holding it while the indicator light blinks yellow.
- Release the button when the light turns solid white.
- Wait for the streamer to restart and complete the reset.
The process may briefly display a Bluetooth-related message on the TV. Ignore it and keep holding the button until the factory-reset sequence begins.
Resetting from the menu
If the remote still works, you can reset the device without using the physical button:
- Press the Home button on the remote.
- Open Settings.
- Select System.
- Choose About.
- Select Factory reset.
- Confirm the reset when prompted.
A factory reset removes installed apps, accounts, settings, Wi-Fi details and other stored data, and it can’t be undone. Afterward, you’ll need to complete the setup process again.
