The Dally M voting works by two independent judges awarding votes on a 3-2-1 basis per game. Each judge gives 3 points to the best player on the field, 2 points to the second-best, and 1 point to the third-best. Since there are two judges, a player can earn a maximum of 6 votes in a single match. Votes are collected throughout the regular NRL season, and the player with the highest total votes at the end is awarded the Dally M Medal as the season's best player. Voting results are public until mid-season (Round 12), after which voting goes behind closed doors until the awards ceremony. Players suspended for two or more matches become ineligible, and players can lose points for suspensions. Additionally, voting also determines the Dally M Team of the Year by position based on who receives the most votes.
