Eggs generally last 3 to 5 weeks when refrigerated properly in their original carton, stored away from the fridge door on a shelf where the temperature is more stable. Without refrigeration, unwashed eggs can last up to about 4 weeks, whereas washed eggs without refrigeration might only last 1 to 2 weeks due to removal of the natural protective coating on the shell. At room temperature, eggs typically last 6 to 8 hours before starting to spoil, and in colder winter conditions, they may last 7 to 10 days. Hard-boiled eggs last about 1 week in the fridge. For longer storage, raw eggs can also be frozen outside their shells for up to a year but the quality may decline over time.
