Augmentin (amoxicillin-clavulanate) usually begins to work within a few hours after you take it, but many people don’t notice meaningful improvement in symptoms until about 2 to 3 days, and often up to 3 to 7 days for more persistent infections. It’s important to complete the full prescribed course even if you feel better earlier, to reduce the chance of a relapse and antibiotic resistance. If you have a high fever, worsening symptoms after a few days, or new symptoms like rash or trouble breathing, contact your healthcare provider promptly.
