The SAT lasts a total of 2 hours and 14 minutes of testing time, divided into two main sections:
- Reading and Writing section: 64 minutes (two 32-minute modules) with 54 questions
- Math section: 70 minutes (two 35-minute modules) with 44 questions
There is a 10-minute break between the Reading and Writing section and the Math section, making the total time including the break 2 hours and 24 minutes
. If the optional Essay is included (only in some states or school-day administrations), it adds an additional 50 minutes to the test length
