There will be a total of five Avatar movies planned. The original Avatar film was released in 2009, followed by Avatar: The Way of Water in 2022. There are four planned sequels after these:
- Avatar 3 (titled Avatar: Fire and Ash) set for 2025
- Avatar 4 expected in 2029
- Avatar 5 expected in 2031
Director James Cameron has also mentioned having ideas for Avatar 6 and 7, but officially five movies are planned and in various stages of production as of now. The continuation of the series beyond movie 5 depends on the success of these films.
