how many baseball teams make the playoffs

Twelve baseball teams make the MLB playoffs each year. This includes six teams from the American League and six teams from the National League. Each league's playoff teams consist of three division winners and three wild-card teams. The top two seeds in each league receive a first-round bye, while the remaining four teams compete in a best-of-three Wild Card Series. The playoffs then proceed through the Division Series, League Championship Series, and culminate with the World Series.
