This means approximately 1.1 million bitcoins remain to be mined, with the last bitcoin expected to be mined around the year 2140 due to scheduled halving events that reduce the rate of new bitcoin creation over time. Additionally, it is estimated that millions of bitcoins are lost forever due to lost private keys, making the effective available supply somewhat lower than the total mined amount.
