In cricket, there are a total of four creases at each end of the pitch: one popping crease, one bowling crease, and two return creases. Since these sets of creases exist at both ends of the pitch, there are effectively eight creases in total on the cricket pitch.
- The bowling crease is the line through the centres of the three stumps at each end.
- The popping crease is drawn 4 feet in front of the bowling crease and runs parallel to it.
- The return creases are two lines perpendicular to the popping and bowling creases, one on each side of the stumps.
