how many evs can a pokemon have

A Pokémon can have a maximum of 510 Effort Values (EVs) in total spread across all its stats. However, each individual stat can have at most 252 EVs allocated to it. This means you can fully maximize two stats (252 EVs each) and have a small amount left over that cannot be effectively used because EVs increase stats in increments of 4 points. Allocating more than 252 EVs to a single stat is inefficient since the extra EVs do not contribute to further stat increases

. In summary:

  • Total EVs per Pokémon: 510
  • Maximum EVs per single stat: 252
  • EVs convert to stat increases at a rate of 1 stat point per 4 EVs

This system has been consistent since Generation 3 of the Pokémon games
