How Hilton Honors earning works
Hilton Honors members generally earn 10 Base Points per US dollar spent on eligible room charges at most Hilton brands. Some brands earn less: Home2 Suites, Homewood Suites, Spark, Tru, Apartment Collection, and YOTEL earn 5 points per dollar, and LivSmart Studios earns 3 points per dollar.
That means the number of points you earn per night depends on how much your eligible room rate and charges cost, plus your elite status. Silver members earn 12 points per dollar, Gold 18, Diamond 20, and Diamond Reserve 22 at brands that earn the standard 10-point rate.
What counts toward points
Hilton says points are earned on eligible stay charges billed to your room folio, including the room rate and some qualifying incidentals such as phone calls and room service. Taxes, gratuities, and certain third-party charges do not earn points.
You can also earn points on up to four rooms during the same stay if all eligible spend for those rooms is paid on one folio, although the rules for elite night credit are different.
Simple example
If your eligible room charges total US$200 at a standard-earning Hilton property, a basic member would earn 2,000 base points for that night. At the same property, a Gold member would earn 3,600 points, and a Diamond member would earn 4,000 points.
The short answer
For most Hilton stays, the answer is 10 points per dollar spent on eligible charges , not a fixed number of points per night. Your actual nightly total changes based on the hotel brand, your room bill, and your elite status.
