The Little League World Series (LLWS) games consist of six innings. If the home team is leading when the top of the sixth inning begins and secures three outs, the game concludes after five and a half innings. If the game is tied after six innings, it goes into extra innings. Starting in the seventh inning, there is no automatic runner on second base, but from the eighth inning onward, an automatic runner is placed on second base to begin each extra inning. Games can also be shortened by a "run rule" if a team is leading by a large margin (15 runs after three innings or 10 runs after four innings), which results in an early end to the game.
