Croatia has a total of 1,244 islands, islets, and rocks. Specifically, there are 78 islands, 524 islets, and 642 rocks and reefs along the Croatian coast. Out of these, around 47 to 49 islands are inhabited.
This makes the Croatian archipelago the largest in the Adriatic Sea and the second largest in the Mediterranean Sea. The total area covered by these islands is about 3,300 square kilometers.
