An NRL (National Rugby League) game consists of two halves, each lasting 40 minutes, making a total of 80 minutes of playtime. There is a 10-minute half- time break between the halves. The game clock stops during stoppages such as injuries and penalties, so the actual total duration of the game usually extends to between 90 and 100 minutes from start to finish. The final whistle is blown only after the last play is completed, even if it goes beyond the 80 minutes of playtime.
