As of 2025, North Korea is estimated to have assembled around 50 nuclear warheads. However, the country possesses enough fissile material to build between 70 to 90 nuclear weapons. Various reputable sources such as the Federation of American Scientists (FAS), the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), and other defense analysts align on these numbers. They also note that North Korea is actively expanding its nuclear capabilities and is producing fissile material at a rate that could increase its stockpile by about six warheads annually. North Korea is also developing tactical nuclear weapons and has made advancements in delivery systems including intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of reaching the continental United States.
