As of October 2025, Israel holds over 11,000 Palestinian prisoners. The total includes approximately 1,460 serving sentences, including 350 serving life sentences, and about 400 children. Among these prisoners, around 3,380 are held without trial (administrative detainees), and thousands more have been detained in military camps classified as "unlawful combatants." Recent releases have seen nearly 2,000 Palestinians freed, including many from Gaza and hundreds serving life sentences for serious attacks on Israelis. The overall imprisonment numbers surged due to ongoing conflict, marking the highest since the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000.
