how many people died in 9/11 attack

The September 11, 2001 attacks resulted in the deaths of 2,977 victims, excluding the 19 hijackers who also died. The casualties included 2,606 people at the World Trade Center in New York City, 125 at the Pentagon, and 246 passengers and crew on the four planes involved in the attacks. Among the victims were 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and 55 military personnel. Many others have since died from long-term health consequences related to exposure from the attacks.
