On September 11, 2001, a total of twenty survivors were pulled from the rubble of the World Trade Center after the towers collapsed. This included six firefighters, three police officers, and other civilians. The last survivor, Genelle Guzman-McMillan, was rescued 27 hours after the collapse of the North Tower. Some notable rescues included two Port Authority Police Department officers, John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno, who were found nearly 24 hours after the collapse beneath about 30 feet of debris
