There are eight planets in the solar system. These are, in order from the Sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Pluto and other similar bodies are classified as dwarf planets rather than full planets according to the accepted definition by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
