The Royal Air Force (RAF) currently operates a total of 137 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. These are divided into three main Tranche variants:
- Tranche 1: 30 aircraft (22% of the fleet)
- Tranche 2: 67 aircraft (49% of the fleet)
- Tranche 3: 40 aircraft (29% of the fleet)
There are plans to phase out most of the Tranche 1 aircraft by around 2025, retaining only a few for air defense in the Falklands, which would leave approximately 111 Typhoons in service
. The RAF maintains seven front-line Typhoon squadrons, plus an Operational Conversion Unit and an Operational Evaluation Unit, based mainly at RAF Coningsby and RAF Lossiemouth
. Thus, the RAF's Typhoon fleet stands at 137 aircraft as of early 2025, with ongoing plans to upgrade and possibly expand the fleet to maintain operational capabilities until the introduction of the future BAE Systems Tempest fighter around 2035-2040
