Ryan Fox’s life as a touring pro is expensive even when he’s playing well. Based on his own comments, he has said that in the US it can cost him more than six or seven thousand dollars a week just to keep playing, before the usual personal and team costs are counted.
For a golfer at his level, the biggest bills are travel, accommodation, rental cars, food, coaching, caddie pay and tournament-related expenses. Fox also said that if you miss a few cuts in a row, the financial pressure builds fast because you still pay those costs even when you earn nothing from the event.
His recent earnings show why the equation can still work at the top end. After winning the Open Championship in 2026, Fox took home a winner’s prize of $3.2 million, though a reported 10% caddie share means the take-home drops before other costs are covered.
So the short answer is this: it can cost Ryan Fox roughly $6,000 to $7,000 a week to be on tour, and a full season can easily run into the tens of thousands once caddie fees and travel are added. That is the price of trying to stay competitive in elite golf, where prize money can be huge but the expenses never really stop.
