W Line Bus Fare in Honolulu
The W Line bus in Honolulu costs $3.25 for a one-way adult fare as of July 1, 2026. Before this date, the fare was $3.00, but it increased to $3.25 on July 1, 2026.
How the W Line Works
The W Line is a frequent, limited-stop bus service that runs between Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) and Waikīkī. It launched on October 16, 2025, replacing the old Route 20. The bus operates from 4:15 a.m. to 2 a.m. the next day, with service every 10 minutes during peak times, 15 minutes in off-peak times, and 30 minutes after 7 p.m.
Payment Options
Riders can pay using either cash or a HOLO card. However, there's an important difference: HOLO card users get a 2.5-hour transfer period, meaning they won't be charged for additional rides on TheBus or Skyline within that window. Cash payments don't include transfers, and no change is given.
HOLO cards can be purchased at Ticket Vending Machines at the Lelepaua Station near the airport, at Skyline station kiosks, partner retailers like 7-Eleven and Foodland, or online at HoloCard.net.
Other Fare Options
Beyond the standard one-way fare, TheBus offers several pass options:
- Adult Day Pass : $7.50 daily cap with HOLO card
- Monthly Pass : $80.00 for adults
- Youth Fare : $1.50 one-way (increasing to $1.63 on July 1, 2026, following the same percentage increase)
- Senior Fare : $1.25 cash fare, $20.00 monthly pass
All passes and fare capping work on both TheBus and Skyline systems when using a HOLO card.
Baggage Rules
The W Line allows one large suitcase per person, with no bag larger than 22″x14″x9″.
