Donald Trump is currently serving his second term as U.S. President, which began on January 20, 2025. This term is expected to end on January 20, 2029, based on the standard four-year presidential term in the U.S. Constitution. According to the 22nd Amendment, no person can be elected to the office of the president more than twice, which legally limits Trump to finishing this second term without the possibility of a third elected term. Although there has been speculation and some discussion of loopholes or constitutional amendments to allow a third term, these are highly unlikely and would require extensive legislative and state ratification processes. Therefore, as of now, Donald Trump will be in office for about three and a half more years until January 20, 2029, and he cannot legally serve beyond that through reelection under the current constitutional rules.
