Flonase (fluticasone propionate) nasal spray is typically used once daily. For adults and children 12 years and older, the recommended starting dose is 2 sprays in each nostril once a day for the first week. After the first week, the dosage may be reduced to 1 or 2 sprays in each nostril once daily as needed to treat symptoms. For children ages 4 to 11, the usual dose is 1 spray in each nostril once daily under adult supervision. Children under 4 years of age should not use Flonase. Use should not exceed the recommended dose, and if symptoms persist after six months of use, a doctor should be consulted. Children using Flonase for longer than 2 months a year should also consult a healthcare provider. Flonase is intended for regular use and it may take several days to feel full relief.
