Flonase (fluticasone propionate) nasal spray is generally used once daily to provide 24-hour relief from allergy symptoms. For adults and children aged 12 and older, the recommended usage is two sprays in each nostril once a day for the first week. After that, use one or two sprays in each nostril once daily as needed. If symptoms persist after six months of daily use, consult a healthcare professional. For children ages 4 to 11, use one spray in each nostril once a day under adult supervision, and if symptoms continue excessively, doctor advice is recommended. Flonase should not be used for children under 4 years of age. Some adults may also use one spray in each nostril twice daily, which has been shown to be as effective as the once daily higher dose regimen. Regular use is important since its maximum effect can take several days. Do not exceed the recommended dose as it does not improve the speed or degree of symptom relief.
