A money tree should generally be watered once every one to two weeks. The key is to check the soil before watering: water the plant thoroughly only when the top 2-4 inches (or about the top inch) of soil feels dry. During spring and summer, watering may need to be more frequent, while in fall and winter, less water is required as the plant grows more slowly. Always water deeply until water drains out of the pot's bottom, and never let the plant sit in standing water to avoid root rot.
Some additional watering tips:
- Use room temperature water.
- You can water from the top until it drains through, or from the bottom by letting the pot soak up water for about 30 minutes.
- Avoid overwatering signs like yellowing leaves or root rot.
- Money trees also benefit from occasional misting or a humid environment since they are native to tropical areas.
