Light Yagami is 17 years old at the beginning of the Death Note series. He was born on February 28, 1986, in the manga (or 1989 in the anime). At the start, Light is a high school student, and he turns 18 shortly after meeting L. Over the course of the series, Light ages up to 23 years old by the post-timeskip period.
