Breast changes in pregnancy can begin very early, sometimes as soon as 1 week after conception. Early signs often include tenderness, soreness, heaviness, tingling, and swelling. Breasts may start to enlarge and feel tender within the first few weeks, often around 2 to 3 days after conception or by 4 to 6 weeks of pregnancy. Other early changes can include darkening of the areolas, more visible veins, and the development of small bumps on the areolas called Montgomery tubercles. These changes typically continue and evolve throughout the first trimester and beyond as pregnancy progresses.
