To activate Secure Boot, follow these steps:
- Check Current Status:
- Open Windows Search, type "System Information," and open it.
- Scroll to find "Secure Boot State." If it says "Off," proceed to enable it.
- Access UEFI Firmware Settings:
- Open Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Recovery.
- Under Advanced startup, click "Restart now."
- On the restart screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings.
- Your PC will restart into the BIOS/UEFI.
- Enable Secure Boot in BIOS:
- In BIOS, switch to Advanced Mode (usually F7).
- Navigate to the Boot tab and disable Compatibility Support Module (CSM) by setting "Launch CSM" to Disabled.
- Go to the Secure Boot option.
- Set "OS Type" to "Windows UEFI mode."
- Ensure "Secure Boot mode" is set to "Standard" or install the Default Secure Boot Keys if prompted.
- Save changes (typically F10) and exit BIOS. The system will restart.
- Verify:
- After rebooting into Windows, check System Information again.
- "Secure Boot State" should now show "On."
Note: Different manufacturers may have minor differences in BIOS layout or keys to enter BIOS (commonly F2, Delete, or other keys). Always check the specific PC or motherboard manual if unsure. This procedure activates Secure Boot, enhancing system security by allowing only trusted software to run during startup.
