To add music to your iMovie project, you can follow these steps depending on your device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac):

On iPhone or iPad

  1. Open your iMovie project.
  2. Tap the Add Media button.
  3. Tap Audio , then tap My Music to browse songs in your Music app library.
  4. Tap a song to preview it. If it’s dimmed, download it first in the Music app.
  5. Tap the Add (+) button next to the song to add it to your project. The song will be placed at the start and automatically fit to your project's length.
  6. You can adjust the song length or add multiple songs by trimming and placing them sequentially.
  7. To add other audio files (MP3, WAV, AIFF, etc.) stored on your device or iCloud Drive, position the playhead where you want the audio, tap Add Media , then tap Files to browse and add the file

On Mac

  1. Open iMovie and your project.
  2. Click Audio from the top menu to access your music library and iTunes songs.
  3. Browse your music and drag the desired song into the timeline where you want it to play.
  4. Alternatively, click Add Media in the project area, then select music files from your computer and import them.
  5. You can also drag music files directly from Finder into the iMovie media tab and then into the timeline.
  6. Adjust the music track’s length by dragging its edges and control volume or fade effects as needed

This process allows you to enhance your video by adding background music or sound effects easily in iMovie on both mobile and desktop platforms.
