To block your number when making a call, you have several options depending on whether you want to block it temporarily (per call) or permanently:
Temporary (Per-Call) Number Blocking
- Dial a special code before the phone number you want to call:
- Use *67 before the number on most smartphones and landlines to hide your caller ID for that call. The recipient will see "Private" or "Blocked" instead of your number
* Alternatively, dial #31# before the number to block your number on a per-call basis on many mobile phones
Permanent Number Blocking (Hide Caller ID by Default)
- On iPhone :
- Go to Settings > Phone.
- Tap Show My Caller ID.
- Toggle off to hide your number on all outgoing calls
- On Android :
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the menu (three dots), then go to Settings > Calls > Additional settings > Caller ID.
- Select Hide number to block your caller ID on all calls
- Note: Some carriers may not support hiding your caller ID, or may override this setting
Carrier Assistance
- You can also contact your wireless carrier to request blocking your number on outgoing calls permanently or for specific lines
Additional Tips
- To unblock your number temporarily if it is hidden by default, dial *82 before the number
- Blocking your number only affects voice calls; text messages will still show your number
These methods let you control whether your phone number is visible when you call someone, either on a call-by-call basis or permanently through your phone settings or carrier
